Centre Managers To Collect Knec Exams Twice A Day From Container
The procedure the government will use to compile the national exam papers for candidates taking the KCSE, KCPE, and KPSEA exams in 2023 has changed.
According to Ezekiel Machogu, exam papers for CS education would henceforth be collected twice everyday rather than just once as was the norm.
The work for the morning will be collected at several drop-off points across the country, according to this.
The collection of the afternoon paper will then take place.
Machogu said that “this is to minimise the chances of the papers being exposed to students before they sit for it” in order to deter cheating.
CS Machogu gave a speech at the 46th Kessha Annual National Conference in Mombasa’s Sheikh Zayed Hall.

Indimuli Kahi of the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association demanded assurances from the Kenya National Examination Council that test papers would not be leaked in 2023, and the Kenya National Examination Council complied.
“That is a problem that our nation must solve together. Why do we see exam copies on smartphones moving about before the applicants take the test? Kahi seated.
“Where did this paper come from? If it was caused by us, we are accountable. Since we’ve been accused of doing the same before,” he said.
Kahi stated he travelled to Swaziland to observe how the country conducts its tests there and was simultaneously astounded and challenged by what he saw.
In Swaziland, he said, principals are given a full week’s worth of papers, which they keep on hand.

Kipsang says that because people have little faith in Swaziland, it is challenging to emulate such countries.
Knec exams will be selected by centre managers from a container twice daily.
According to the PS, “We can even give a full month’s papers if we address the trust deficit.”
He acknowledged that things are getting better but added that teenagers going on rampages and damaging schools are also caused by a lack of trust.
When it comes to evaluation, Kipsang said it is distressing to learn that teachers and students must have armed security guards behind them only during national exams.
He asserted that principals need to be able to deal with the problems that young people confront in order to develop trusting relationships with the children.
What specific actions have we taken to earn the students’ trust? When doctors can, why enter an operating room without armed security? Why do lawyers show up to court without armed police? Why only during student assessments, you could ask? Kipsang took a seat.
He further added that this only happens during the national exams.
He asserted that nothing of the sort was seen during the institution’s internal exams.
Indimuli Kahi, chairwoman of Kessha, added that it is necessary to alter the system for grading students because it disadvantages them.
Currently, there are six subjects that are required for grades, including maths, English, Swahili, two sciences, and a humanities course, he noted.
A student’s grade used to be based on just four mandatory topics.
He cited the example of how English grammar and literature, which were once distinct, are now integrated.
Some students, according to Kahi, have good grammar but have trouble analysing literature.
But even though this student had excellent English grammar, their performance in literature kept them from passing the medicine class. Are we being fair with this student? Kahi seated.
