Benefits List for All Teachers Under the NSSF TSC Pension

The Lower Earnings Limit (LEL) and Upper Earning Limit (UEL) are each set by NSSF at 6,000 and 18,000 Kenya Shillings, respectively. The fund deducts a total of 12% from the pensionable wages, with 6% going to the employee and the remaining 6% to the employer.

The maximum deductions are capped at Ksh 2,160 for members earning more than Ksh 18,800. The program deducts the contributions from the member’s wage while the employer is required to make the disbursements.
The National Social Security Funds (NSSF) are available to teachers employed by TSC in the following ways:

age advantages

Members who have retired from their regular employment and reached the age of 55 are eligible for this benefit.

withdrawal advantages

Members who have reached the age of 50 and have left their formal employment are eligible for this benefit.

Inheritance benefits

This benefit is provided to members who are incapable of supporting themselves in a fair manner due to physical or mental illness.

Validity advantages

paid to a member who is officially deemed permanently unable to work owing to a physical or mental condition.

Emigration offers advantages

Members who are leaving from Kenya to any other nation without the intention of returning to Kenya are eligible for this benefit, regardless of their age.

Death Grant

This is a financial gift to help the grieving family of a deceased relative. If the deceased member had made at least three months of NSSF contributions, the deceased member’s designated family representative would receive the payment. After the member’s death, the grant must be paid within three months.

A schedule outlining the amount and duration of contribution should be obtained from NSSF offices in the subcounties where teachers who were employed temporarily worked. The statement should be sent to the Commission for amending in cases where the amount is not shown. The NSSF Act Cap 258 specifies how the benefits are to be paid out.
