Soon, teachers and government workers will benefit from a pay raise that is retroactive to July 1, 2023 and varies from 7 to 10 percent over the course of two years (two phases).

On August 13, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) revealed more information regarding the amount of allowances that the pay increase plan would affect. The residences, commuters, and salaries that will be impacted by the new regulations were identified by the commission.

The new House and Commuter allowances that will be paid were also listed in a table given by the SRC. In the first phase, which lasts from July 1 to June 30, 2023, teachers and government workers will see wage increases of 5%, and in the second phase, which lasts from July 1 to June 30, 2024, they will see salary increases of 5% as well.

According to Lyn Mengich, head of the Salary and Remuneration Commission (SRC), who made the formal announcement on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, the payment that would be paid in August salary with July arrears will be made.

The allowances paid to various government employees, including teachers, civil servants, county government employees, and members of the armed forces, have changed as a result of the pay increase, according to the details.

However, the Ministry of Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action has made the pay and benefits for first-phase national government employees available to the public. Depending on the specifications, different labor groups, even those in the lower cadre, will receive a different living allowance.

“The new Basic Salaries and House Allowance will apply to Civil Servants in the National Government in CSG17 to CSG4, who will be in the Service on or after 1st July 2023,” stated the Ministry in the paper outlining the changes.

TSC has not yet made public the new pay structure, which will identify the new payment points from lowest to best paid teachers.
