TSC Issues Academic Requirements for Post-Primary Teacher Positions
To ensure that only qualified persons are given the critical responsibility of educating the nation’s youth, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is in charge.
The TSC has created strict requirements for various kinds of post-primary teachers in Kenya in order to accomplish this goal.
Let’s look at the requirements for various teacher types.
Academic Requirements for Graduate Teachers in TSC Recruitment
Graduate Teachers must fulfil a number of academic requirements. First, candidates must receive a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) grade of at least C+.
Additionally, students must pass two Principles and one Subsidiary at ‘A’ Level or have a C+ or above in each of their two teaching courses.
Graduate Teacher candidates can also fulfil these requirements by following a variety of academic paths, such as earning a Bachelor of Education with two teaching subjects, a Bachelor of Science or Arts degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) with two teaching subjects, or a Bachelor of Science/Arts with Education with two teaching subjects. Additional consideration is given to credentials like an education diploma.
Academic Requirements for Diploma Teachers in TSC Recruitment
Diploma Teachers must fulfil certain requirements in order to contribute to the educational field. They must receive a C+ or higher in each of the two teaching topics, or one Principle and two Subsidiaries at ‘A’ Level, in addition to receiving a C+ or higher in the KCSE or its equivalent. Additionally, they need to have earned a minimum C+ in each of the two teaching topics for their education diploma from an accredited teacher training institution. For some circumstances, there are specific requirements for qualifying.

Technical Teaching Credentials
Candidates for technical teachers must fulfil demanding prerequisites. They must have at least a C+ in the two teaching subjects from the KCSE or its equivalent, or one Principle and two Subsidiaries from the ‘A’ Level in pertinent subjects. A Bachelor of Education Technology (BeD TECH), a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in a relevant technical subject or course, a Higher Diploma in a technical course, or a Diploma in a technical degree are among the specific educational requirements. Candidates who possess qualifications outside of the Secondary School Curriculum are ineligible.
Finally, these certifications guarantee that Kenyan teachers are not only academically qualified but also have the essential teaching abilities to successfully educate the country’s future generations.
The TSC’s determination to upholding strict requirements for teacher certifications demonstrates Kenya’s commitment to giving its children a high-quality education. In order to start their journey of influencing the future via education, aspiring educators must fulfil these demanding standards.
