TSC Orders Field Officers on Leave to Return to Duty in Order to Prepare for the KCPE/KCSE
In a directive released on Monday, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) instructed all field officers who are currently on leave to report back to work by October 16. TSC CEO Nancy Macharia announced this choice, emphasising how important it is to the organization’s preparations for the next national exams.
Macharia made it clear that this was one of the steps being taken to guarantee the effective conclusion of the last round of training for the national exams. These field officers’ main duties will be to oversee and coordinate the KCSE and KCPE exams, which stand for the Kenya Certificates of Secondary Education and Primary Education, respectively.
They will also be crucial in ensuring the efficient execution of the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA).
It should be noted that the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has declared the conjunctive administration of the KCPE and KPSEA. The actual exams are expected to start on Monday, October 30, and end on Wednesday, November 1. Rehearsals for both national exams are set to begin on October 27.

The start date for the KCSE examinations has been determined by the testing organisation to be October 10 with a November 24 cutoff date. Macharia revealed that supervisors, invigilators, and examiners had already gone through a vetting process to reassure parents and students about the smooth administration of these exams.
Ezekiel Machogu, the Education Cabinet Secretary, Belio Kipsang, the Principal Secretaries for Basic Education, and Raymond Omollo, the Principal Secretary for Interior Security, were present when Macharia made this announcement at the beginning of the 2023 national examinations season.
