A list of 1,900 teachers who will be promoted by county in 2023
To local school officials, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has distributed about 1,900 promotional letters. The distribution of these letters to property owners has made it possible for recently appointed teachers to report on time to their new assignments.
TSC initially posted 14,738 teaching posts in December 2022, but the postings were temporarily taken down in response to teacher objections. TSC then issued new job postings for these posts in January, March, and May 2023. The shortlisted applicants then underwent a series of interviews.
Teachers who participated in interviews for senior teaching posts in March and May, however, still have not gotten their appointment letters as of this writing. Many of these educators have been working in temporary positions while they wait for the commission to confirm them.
Due to the financial crisis, the TSC is performing promotions in stages, which is why there have been delays in releasing appointment letters.
Nancy Macharia, CEO of TSC, has attributed some of the responsibility to the teachers themselves, claiming that their unwillingness to pursue advancements has contributed to their stagnation. A total of 14,738 jobs for teacher promotions were advertised by the commission earlier in the year, but only 11,231 instructors were hired, leaving 3,507 slots empty due to a lack of qualified applicants.

Teachers can verify if their promotion letters are ready for pickup by visiting the TSC website, which also provides the promotion list and official names. This list relates to job openings for promotions that TSC announced in January, March, and May 2023.
Following government funding for the exercise, TSC recently published over 36,000 promotional vacancies for teachers in various job groups. The application period ended on September 15, 2023, one week after the original deadline of September 8, 2023, which had been delayed by a national blackout.
