Apply for Internships at the Ministry of Education (MoE)

Within the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP), Cohort 3, the State Department for Basic Education, a division of the Ministry of Education (MoE), has announced 1,000 internship opportunities.

The ministry stated in a statement on Tuesday, September 5th, that it intended to place selected applicants in schools at the Sub County Level. These interns will play a key role in supporting virtual learning and other digital platforms while also developing practical skills and knowledge there.

According to the announcement, the State Department would pay the interns a stipend at a rate set by the government. Interns will be awarded a certificate by the State Department after successfully completing the non-renewable 12-month internship programme.

Candidates must have graduated no earlier than 2019 in order to be considered for this position and must be ready to work full-time shifts at any Sub County Education office nationwide.

The preferred educational background for applicants is either a bachelor’s degree in education with an emphasis in ICT or a bachelor’s degree in ICT. As an alternative, they could possess an ICT Integration in Education Diploma from a reputable institution.

The government made clear that candidates must have experience in networking and infrastructure, application development, information security, and project management. Candidates must also be competent to integrate ICT into education, notably in the context of E-Learning and content creation. Skills in innovation and research are also highly recognised in support of the DLP.

The interns’ duties include supporting e-learning and content development in accordance with the schemes of work, assisting with the implementation of the digital learning programme, training primary school teachers to use digital literacy tools, encouraging innovations to improve the use of digital learning in schools, ensuring the safe, secure, and moral use of technology in learning, and integrating ICT into teaching and learning.

Applications must be submitted online through the Public Service Commission’s employment site, which is reachable at www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke, for those who are qualified and interested. The application deadline has been set for September 25th, 2023.
