British Council will grant Kes. 140 billion to six universities

The British Council is donating 140 billion Kenyan Shillings to help six universities in the nation, according to the Kenyan government. The grant is intended to protect the institutions from the difficulties of underfunding and to enable them to increase their academic offerings.

Moses Wetangula, the speaker of the National Assembly, made the announcement in his acceptance address after being given an honorary degree by Kibabii University.

Hon. Moses Wetangula claims that funds from the British Council will go a long way toward assisting with the issues the country’s universities are now facing.

Kibabii University, Moi University, Jomo Kenyatta (JKUAT), Kenyatta (KU), and the University of Nairobi are the institutions that would gain from the money pot (UoN).

Wetangula thanked the university for the honorary degree and promised that the grant will soon be credited to the institution’s coffers during the university’s seventh graduation ceremony.

Also, he promised that the donor-funded initiative wouldn’t be postponed.

Joshua Oigara, CEO of Stanbic Bank, and Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, principal secretary for higher education, were among those present at the ceremony.

Dr. Inyangala guaranteed the institutions that tuition wouldn’t go up and urged graduates to promote Kibabii University as much as possible in the employment market.

Wetangula criticized the Supreme Court’s decision on the LGBTQ community during his acceptance speech, calling it unethical and unacceptable for people of the same gender to engage in sexual activity.

He denounced social perverts and people who are unable to recognize the differences between male and female species in life, saying that they had no business being in society.

Six universities in Kenya will receive a grant from the British Council that will help them overcome their financial difficulties and allow them to broaden their academic offerings.

This will eventually spread to students and professors, boosting the educational community at the aforementioned universities.
