First Lady Announces a Program for 89,000 Schools

First Lady Rachel Ruto introduced the First Lady Mazingira Award on Thursday, highlighting schools in all 47 counties. At the program’s introduction at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC), the speaker stated that the program’s goal is to recognize students who work on green projects. It’s important to note that pupils attending both public and private schools will be qualified for this new prize.

Particularly in view of the government’s initiatives to combat the effects of climate change, Rachel stressed the significance of this program. The Africa Climate Summit was hosted by President William Ruto before this event.

The future of the country, according to Rachel, depends on everyone’s activities, and what we do now will have a big impact on future generations, especially our young students, who are the future.

At the KICC in Nairobi, she formally launched the First Lady Mazingira Award, stating that it would focus on students, especially those with special needs, in more than 89,000 public and private primary and secondary schools spread across Kenya’s 47 counties.

Young children have the power to influence society and make a difference, supporting the government’s efforts in its climate change program, which includes the ambitious 15 billion tree planting goal. This was the obvious message from Rachel.

She closed by saying that each of us has the ability to influence the world, especially our young people. For the sake of future generations, it is essential to enable them to take the lead in environmental protection.

In addition to introducing the award’s design and tagline during the launch ceremony, Rachel honored the students who took part in the logo competition. The precise financial compensation for this award is still a secret.
