Govt’ Announces New Procedure for Gathering KCPE and KCSE
For candidates taking the KCSE and KCPE exams in 2023, the government has changed how national test papers are collected.
Education CS Ezekiel Machogu made the announcement on Wednesday at the 46th Kessha annual national conference held at Sheikh Zayed Hall in Mombasa. The difference is that exam papers will now be collected twice daily rather than only once.
The morning edition will now be picked up in the morning from various locations across the nation, while the afternoon issue will be picked up in the late afternoon.
According to Machogu, this modification intends to lessen the likelihood that students will be exposed to papers before taking the tests.
Indimuli Kahi, the chairman of the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (Kessha), encouraged the Kenya National Examination Council to assure principals that there would be no leakage of examination papers in 2023, and the Kenya National Examination Council complied.
Kahi emphasized the need for solutions as a nation when she expressed worries about exam papers appearing on mobile phones before applicants had even taken the exams.
Basic Education PS Belio Kipsang made clear that the question at hand is one of trust, nonetheless.
Kipsang thought it was disappointing that professors and students needed armed security guards just during national exams.
A revision of student grading was also sought by Indimuli, who claimed that the current system disadvantages students.
The six required disciplines in the current grading system are math, English, Swahili, two sciences, and a humanities course, he noted.
In the past, a student’s grade was based on just four required topics.
