Grade C2 Teachers’ New TSC Salary Structure
The Kenyan government recently announced changes to the pay scale for Special Needs Teachers (Primary/Senior Teacher II), Lecturers II, and Secondary Teachers II.
According to the negotiated Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), graduate teachers at the entry-level Teacher Grade C2 would get a basic wage increase of up to Sh4,164.
Teachers in DS grades will have an increase of Sh4,883, and those in Grade C3 would see a gain of Sh5,141.
Teachers across the country will be affected by these changes, which will provide them with some relief and better career and financial opportunities.

- The new base pay for Grade C2 is 36,621 KES at Salary increment 1, and it rises with each increment.

Grade C2 Teachers’ Salary Structure under the New TSC
Educators will gain from a variety of allowances in addition to the adjusted base wages that are designed to meet their unique demands and challenges:
- Hardship Allowance: Teachers teaching Grade C2 and T Scale 7 will each get 10,900 KES in Hardship Allowance.
- Commuter Allowance: To help with daily commuting costs, teachers will be eligible for a Commuter Allowance of 5,000 KES.
- Annual Leave Allowance: 6,000 KES will be offered as part of the annual leave allowance because it is crucial for teachers to take breaks.
- Disability Guide Allowance: The Disability Guide Allowance, which is worth 20,000 KES, is a substantial contribution. This allowance aims to provide additional support for teachers who work with students who have disabilities, acknowledging the particular difficulties they face in their positions.
