Guidelines for Loan Application are Published by HELB for Continuing Students

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) announced new loan application requirements for continuing university and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students on Tuesday, August 1.

Certain students should submit an application using the HELB app or USSD Code *642, according to a notice from the loans board.

Ezekiel Machogu, the Education Cabinet Secretary, introduced a new financial model, and as a result, the app was upgraded. HELB advised the students to make sure the software was updated.

A functioning phone number and SIM cards registered in the names of the pupils are also requirements for registration.

“Enter your first name exactly as it appears on your national ID card, your ID number, and a valid email address to complete registration. The loans tab can be clicked to choose a degree.

The notice stated, in part, “Then click apply on the Undergraduate/Certificate/Diploma second and subsequent loan.”

Therefore, it was advised that before answering to the financial literacy questions, students review the loan terms.

“Select your selected loan payment option and click Request Loan to view and check the status of your credit application.

“Click submit to complete the loan application. A pop-up notification letting you know that your application was accepted will appear. According to HELB, the loan serial number will also be shown.

The organization pledged to keep the students informed about how maintenance, student loans, and other services are provided.

The loans board invited students who were encountering issues with their applications to email them at contactcentre@helh.co.ke.

The application deadline for loans is September 30.
