Kenya Education Fund Provides Scholarships to 160 Students

After receiving a five-year scholarship, the Kenya Education Fund (KEF) will be able to provide secondary education for 160 deserving but struggling primary school students from all around the nation.

Four years of secondary schooling and one year of college are covered by the scholarship.

The students received their checks from the non-governmental organization at the ceremony to award the scholarships, which was held at Nazarene Church in Nairobi County (NGO).

The recipients will also receive mentorship, life skills, productive health, and preparation for transition to the careers of their choice, according to Dominic Muasya, executive director and co-founder of KEF.

He claims that keeping needy pupils in school is the organization’s primary goal. If they receive additional funding from well-wishers, he further committed to sponsoring more students.

Before taking the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exam in July 2022, scholarship recipients were interviewed (KCPE). For the scholarship, more than 3,000 people applied.

Muasya told the reporters, “Our pupils will do well and have had a high rate of transition from high school to university.

In the KCSE exams from the previous year, he disclosed that thanks to their scholarship, 99 percent of their beneficiaries were able to advance to the next level.

KEF Chairperson Dr. Grace Waiharo disclosed that they are now funding 500 people enrolled in secondary schools.

She disclosed that the NGO alumni have also given the organization hundreds of thousands of dollars to help even more deserving kids.

Valentine Sentei, one of the recipients, earned 342 out of a possible 500 points in her KCPE exam at Iltilal Primary School in Kajiado South.

She was hoping that the scholarship would allow her to finish her secondary education as her father had passed away and left behind seven children.
