KNEC WARNS ALL KCSE INVIGILATORS TO PROCEED WITH CAUTION

KNEC WARNS ALL KCSE INVIGILATORS TO PROCEED WITH CAUTION

KNEC has issued a stern warning to center managers regarding the leakage of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) practical exam papers. In an announcement on Monday, the council emphasized that invigilators must avoid sharing confidential instructions with unauthorized individuals, including candidates, prior to the examination.

The notice stated, “We wish to strongly caution all KCSE Centre Managers against sharing advanced confidential instructions for the preparation of science practical examination papers with unauthorized persons.” It also urged strict adherence to KNEC rules and regulations, warning that any violation would result in the penalties outlined in the KNEC Act.

According to the Act, center managers found guilty of misconduct can face imprisonment for up to twelve months, a fine of up to Ksh500,000, or both. This punishment extends to anyone who gains access to examination materials and intentionally discloses their contents to unauthorized parties, whether candidates or others, as well as those who intentionally damage examination materials.

Furthermore, the jail term applies to individuals attempting to impersonate registered candidates, or those in possession of or presenting forged certificates or diplomas. The national examinations began nationwide today, with candidates taking their physics practicals. A total of 903,260 candidates had registered to sit for the paper.

The science practical papers are scheduled to continue until Friday. Data from the Ministry of Education reveals that just under a million students will sit for KCSE, while 1.4 million will take the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE). In total, 3.5 million students are expected to participate in these two examinations, along with the newly introduced Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA). The KCSE will run until November 24.
