Scholarships and Loans Are Available For Deserving Students At Public Universities.

Government loans and scholarships will be provided to all needy and vulnerable college and university students, according to Geoffrey Monari, chief executive officer of Universities Fund.

According to Monari, this will be applied to all needy students selected to enroll in public higher education institutions, the total number of which is currently 130,485. This includes students who don’t have national identification cards.

“No student will be without support under the new financial paradigm. According to Monari, financial aid will be provided to all of the KUCCPS-placed students who apply.

9,622 students registered in various private schools of higher learning across the country would also profit from the new government loans and scholarships, according to the head of University Funds.

The organization got a total of Sh19.6 billion in funds, which will be applied to government scholarships under the new university finance scheme.

On May 3, 2023, President William Ruto unveiled the New Funding Model to solve the financial problems that higher education institutions are currently experiencing as a result of increased enrollment in the face of inadequate funding.

The administration is eager to put the financial plan into place because it says it will guarantee inclusion and keep no child behind.

The government has allocated Ksh19.6 billion for scholarships. Applying is as follows

Kids from low-income homes will finally have equal access to technical vocational training and higher education. According to Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, at the launch of the fund in July, approximately 45,000 vulnerable and extremely underprivileged university students and 42,000 TVET students from the class of 2022 would receive full financing under the Government Scholarships and Loans.

The new model will finance students instead of higher education institutions, as was the case under the previous system.

The state will provide funding for students based on their familial situation and the cost of their academic programs.

Students will be compensated based on their need in one of four categories, including vulnerable, highly needy, needy, or less needy, according to President William Ruto’s declaration.
