Students will start receiving letters of acceptance to universities today
Students who took the 2022 KCSE Exams will start receiving admission letters for the institution or college where KUCCPS placed them starting today (Wednesday, August 2).
Speaking at the Kenya School of Government in Kabete to announce the new funding model for universities and colleges, Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, instructed university leaders to issue letters letting students to apply for loans and bursaries.
“I direct Vice-Chancellors and Principals to ensure that letters of admission are sent out by August 2nd, 2023. This will allow students to apply for loans and bursaries from August 3 through midnight on August 27, 2023, according to the CS.
In response to the Presidential directive published on May 3, 2023, on the implementation of the new funding model, the administration successfully developed and released the Higher Education Financing Portal.
TVET and university students can use the site to apply for loans, bursaries, and scholarships.

According to Machogu, the official location for all new students to submit formal online requests for financial aid for higher education is now the higher education financing website, which is accessible at www.hef.co.ke.
He emphasized that under the new model, the government would provide complete financial assistance to the vulnerable and highly poor students, who make up 29% of the student population enrolling in TVETs and universities this year.
Additionally, CS Machogu asked students to adhere to the dates in order to ensure the fast processing of loans and scholarships.
Fundamentally, like loans in the past, grants and scholarships will now be awarded based on need. The new funding mechanism for each loan application will involve means testing for all loans, scholarships, and bursaries. He added.
