TERM 3 HOLIDAY BREAK FOR SCHOOLS. CHECK THE NEW DATE
Modified Closing Dates by MoE. A lot of preschools, elementary schools, and middle schools have modified their academic calendars to send pupils home earlier for the November/December break.
The break will now start on October 19, as opposed to the original October 27 start date that the Ministry of Education had previously declared.
This change in vacation schedule has major ramifications, especially for pupils in classes 8 and 4, as it occurs right before the impending national exams.
The longer break implies that students who do not take the national exams will be at home until January 8, 2024.
The Kenya Primary School Examinations (KPSEA) and the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), respectively, are being prepared for by students in the sixth and eighth grades who have been designated as candidates.
These critical evaluations are scheduled to take place from October 30 to November 2, 2023, over a four-day span.

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) tests are scheduled to begin on November 3 and last until November 24, 2023, following these primary exams.
The final year of the 8-4-4 educational system, which is being replaced by the 2-6-3-3-3 skills-based curriculum, is marked this year for the KCPE pupils, in addition to the rescheduled holiday.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has provided crucial information for this academic year on the new school closing dates, which have been the subject of great discussion.

Notably, the KCPE and KCSE tests are likely to draw a whopping 2.3 million participants, demonstrating the scope of these national exams.
According to the statistics, there were roughly 1,415,315 applicants for the KCPE exam and an additional 903,260 students for the KCSE exam.
The 1,282,574 students in Grade Six who will be taking the KPSEA have all received their preparation materials, according to David Njengere, the current KNEC Chief Executive Officer.
For the KCSE, KCPE, and KPSEA exams, an astounding array of 1,143 containers will be deployed to help with the exams.
The KPSEA and KCPE exams will be administered in 576 distribution stations or containers, but the KCSE exam papers will only be distributed in 567 containers.
This nationwide examination process is vital to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC),
has 223,223 instructors designated as monitors and invigilators for the national test in 2023.
37,731 instructors have also been chosen to serve as examiners for this year’s exams.
These teachers will start the grading procedure on November 27 and it will last through December 15, 2023.
This crucial time in the test cycle marks the completion of the planning and work done to guarantee a smooth and equitable evaluation for students across the nation.
