news on ktec today. By integrating the African Continental Qualifications structure (ACQF) into its structure, the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) is working to eradicate bogus degrees.

With the help of this project, young Africans will be able to have their credentials acknowledged not only in their own nations but also all over the African continent and the world.

During a session on the ACQF, Principal Secretary Esther Muoria emphasized the goals of this project.

It aims to overcome competency gaps between universities offering comparable degrees, inconsistent qualification outcomes, and mismatched abilities.

It also intends to create distinct pathways for qualification growth.

In order to achieve international recognition, Ms. Muoria underlined the significance of uniform professional standards at the national and continental levels.

The all-encompassing strategy calls for coordinating occupational standards and curriculum to promote mobility across the continent.

Juma Mukhwana, Principal Secretary for Industry, underlined the importance of valuing practical abilities over academic credentials with a focus on talent evaluation and certification.

The objective is to develop a more open-minded and useful educational system that fills the knowledge gap between academia and business demands, promoting economic growth and enhancing intra-African commerce.

The necessity of a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) system to certify industry-relevant skills and abilities was emphasized by Alice Kande, acting director general of the KNQA.

This is in line with the recommendations of the Presidential Working Party on Education Reform (PWPER), which also calls for the introduction of the Credit Accumulation and Transfer Systems (CATS) and RPL in Kenya.
