TSC 5 Types of Payments Made to Teachers Who Apply

The Teachers Service Commission, or TSC, pays many forms of allowances to its staff of teachers.

Some of these allowances, according to the commission, are given to instructors in addition to their monthly wages.

TSC bases some of the allowances it pays on things like:

work station
job grade of individual teachers
responsibilities plus others like type of learners handled.

The commission also clarifies that even if most of the allowances are paid on a monthly basis,there are others are one off.

TSC 5 Types of Allowances Paid to Teachers Upon Application ,2023.

1 . Responsibility allowance (s)

The money is paid to headteachers, the deputy headteachers and senior teachers who are at Job Group K and below.

2. Special duty allowance (s)

It is an allowance payable to teachers below job group M and are appointed to administrative posts by commission . These teachers work in arid and semi-arid lands.

3. Readers allowance (s)

It is money that is paid to a visually impaired teacher who has engaged a reader . The reader must have scored minimum qualification of below KCSE D+/KCE Division III.

The above allowance is payable at a fixed rate determined from time to time by the commission.

TSC normally pays reader’s allowance at a rate of Sh15,000 per month to the blind teachers and those confined to wheel chairs by virtue of their disability nature

4. Interpreters Allowance

This is another allowance that is payable to deaf teachers who engage interpreters while on study leave.

Important to note also is that Special school allowance -is paid to teachers specialized in special needs education and who have been deployed to teach in special schools or units.

5. Transfer Allowance (s)

The Commission starts the transfer allowance provided by TSC. The amount is equal to one month’s worth of a teacher’s base salary.
