TSC announces dates for retooling of JSS teachers.

The retooling of all junior secondary school teachers (JSS) will take place at the sub-county level between December 2 and December 5, 2024, according to the Teacher Service Commission, or TSC.

The master trainers will be trained as part of the smart cascade training methodology. Competency-Based Assessments (CBA) and the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) will be taught to the teachers.

The following documents must be produced by the applicants throughout the sub-county verification process:

proof of teacher registration in the form of a copy of the Teacher Registration Certificate or printout from the TSC website.

At midnight on November 4, TSC ended the online application process. The period of the document verification exercise is November 7–15, 2024.

TSC will send the applicants to different schools in early January after confirming their paperwork and requiring them to sign a one-year internship agreement.

English, Kiswahili/Kenya Sign Language (KSL), Mathematics, Religious Education, Social Studies (including Life Skills Education), Integrated Science (which includes Health Education), Pre-Technical Studies, Agriculture and Nutrition, and Creative Arts and Sports are the learning areas that will determine the teachers’ clustering.

Requirements

1. A copy of the Teacher Registration Certificate/print-out from the TSC online portal as evidence of registration as a teacher
2. A copy of the National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card (where applicable)
3. A copy of the National Identity Card (ID) or Passport
4. Two (2) color passport size photographs
5. A copy of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) card
6. A copy of the Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN).
