TSC Has Clarified Transfers of North Eastern Teachers
Teachers in Garrisa County are looking to migrate owing to security issues brought on by the regular attacks. These assaults interfere with instructional activities because they frequently take place at the beginning of the school year.
As a result, a large group of teachers congregates at the TSC offices to await word from the organisation.
In Garrisa County, a total of 26,907 non-local teachers have requested transfer letters so they can relocate to safer places. The TSC clarifies that due to North-Eastern County’s unique security issues, it is unable to provide transfer letters to teachers there.
Through an online system, teachers can seek transfers, but they haven’t heard back about their requests. The TSC emphasises that transfers will only take place when qualified applicants can fill the open posts.

Teachers used to be able to travel across counties in accordance with the delocalization strategy, but this policy was discontinued in June 2021. Only 20,055 of the 46,962 teachers in primary and secondary schools who had asked for transfers by that point had been accepted. The existence of suitable replacements continues to be the primary criterion for transfers.
Delocalization’s main objective is to foster national integration and cohesiveness by enabling teachers who are employed in remote areas to visit their families. To ensure academic continuity, the TSC is adamant that replacements be hired before sanctioning transfers.
