TSC Issues 1,000 Promotional Letters in a New Batch
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has lately delivered over 1000 promotional letters to school leaders across several counties. After the interviews, there were delays, but some counties are now sending posting letters to teachers.
TSC initially announced 14,738 teaching vacancies in December 2022, but eventually withdrew the announcement due to a lack of interest. In January, March, and May, further application requests were sent.
However, senior job letters have not yet been distributed, therefore some teachers are filling in as they wait to be confirmed. Financial limitations have been blamed for delays because funding was given by the Treasury in installments.
As long as it has funding, the TSC intends to keep incrementally promoting and posting instructors. Due to the new “promotion based localization” system, which relates teacher advancement to job availability in a particular county, CEO Nancy Macharia raised concern about teachers’ reluctance to pursue promotions in neighbouring counties.
Prior to the 2023 National Exams, TSC recalls all of its employees and places them on leave.
Only 11,231 instructors were employed out of the 14,738 posts that were initially advertised, 3,507 of which remained unfilled due to a lack of applicants, and 1,021 of which were designated for teachers who practise affirmative action.
There were a number of job openings for senior teachers, chief principals, principals, deputy principals, senior masters, headteachers and deputy headteachers in both ordinary and special schools.
