TSC Puzzle’s 1000 Head Posts have no applicants. Due to a dearth of suitable applicants, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is now unable to fill the senior managerial jobs that have been offered since December of last year,2022.

The TSC research states that “Teachers did not apply for advertised posts, leaving thousands of schools without principals and vice-principals.” Those affected include public schools that serve pupils with disabilities and special needs. The deadline has once more been extended by the commission, this time from June 9 to June 15.

A total of 1,001 available positions remain empty, according to the commission, despite no applications with stated interest being filed in the previous six months.

Despite the commission repeatedly needing to re-post these openings and extend the application deadlines, hardly many applications have been received.

Among the positions that need to be filled are the following ones:

principals’ chief principals
Head teachers and deputy principals
Senior masters, senior teachers, and deputy head teachers

According to the employer of teachers, there are presently 987 openings for deputy headteachers in primary schools, six for deputy principals, and eight for special needs schools.

In the first round of advertisements, the commission proclaimed 5,155 positions, but only 2,592 of them had been filled.

A second job advertisement was then published by the commission, but only 1,591 applications were received.

A TSC conundrum is 1,000 open posts for school heads with no applicants.

The committee said that it was believed that extending the deadline will encourage more teachers because many schools lack permanent administrators.

TSC found that many of them use teachers in temporary roles without paying them for their time.

The TSC is accused by teachers’ unions of failing to advance them to levels where they are capable of holding administrative positions, endangering school succession planning.

The Commission has again extended the deadline for new applications by seven days, from June 9 to June 15, 2023, in response to this circumstance.
