TSC Releases 1,900 Promoted Teachers’ Names Per County

Local school officials have received at least 1,900 promotional letters from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

Several counties have already sent posting notifications to property owners. The letters were not sent out right away because the interviews were over.

The newly posted instructors were able to report to their new site and begin working the next term because their letters were delivered early.

In December 2022, TSC published an advertisement for 14,738 teaching positions before taking it down.

In the months of January, March, and May of this year, it made further application requests.

Teachers who applied to be senior teachers have not yet received letters from the Commission.

Some teachers were serving as senior teachers in an interim capacity while they awaited confirmation.

The bulk of the teachers who participated in promotion interviews in March and were chosen for the positions they applied for have not yet been posted, according to the TSC database, which is also accessible in county and subcounty directors offices.

The delays were explained by a senior TSC official on a shortage of funding, which was supplied by the Treasury in instalments.

There won’t be many promotions for instructors to senior positions because of the economic situation.

The CEO of TSC, Nancy Macharia, highlighted teachers’ stagnation and lack of promotion as causes.

She asserted that in surrounding counties, instructors were hesitant to submit applications for promotions.

The TSC chief claims that earlier this year, the commission made 14,738 opportunities for teacher promotions to different classes public in order to fill positions left vacant by attrition.

However, only 11,231 instructors were employed, while 3,507 positions remained unfilled due to a lack of eligible candidates. There were 1,021 places set out for educators who used affirmative action.

For both regular and special schools, TSC released employment adverts for the positions of chief principal, principal, deputy principal, senior master, headteacher, and senior teacher.
