TSC requested to create of more C4 job groups to combat stagnation.

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has pushed for the expansion of establishments within job Group C4 to give teachers more flexibility in their career advancement options.

The secretary-general of KUPPET, Akello Misori, has emphasized the need for new opportunities in the teaching profession, especially for people who have kept the same position for a long time despite their academic accomplishments.

Misori drew attention to a troubling trend where a large portion of graduate instructors in Job Group C3 had experienced prolonged stagnation for more than five years.

Moreover, he pointed out that a sizable number of diploma instructors had been locked in grade C2 jobs with no potential for promotion.

To solve this issue, Misori offered a proactive suggestion: creating more grade C4 posts. By expanding options within this category, KUPPET hopes to promote a more fluid and dynamic career progression for teachers across the nation.

Misori believes that many educators who are currently experiencing stagnation and a lack of upward mobility would benefit from this idea if it were to become legislation.

While many diploma teachers have remained in grade C2, many graduate teachers in employment Group C3 have remained in the same position for more than five years. We support the development of more companies in C4 to foster professional advancement.

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers has brought attention to the role that employers play in this circumstance.

Misori expressed his displeasure with the employer for failing to put the career progression norms for promotions into practice, which ultimately caused a substantial number of teachers—46,550 to be exact—to stagnate in the same job category.
