TSC says Intern teachers are eligible for 8,707 replacements.
The announced 8,707 teacher replacements are open to teachers on internship terms with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
According to the Commission, intern teachers can apply online before the deadline for the teacher replacement positions.
In earlier announcements, the Commission prohibited intern teachers from applying for open positions, whether they were replacement or mass recruiting.
This is a paradigm shift, though, because TSC now permits instructors who are not on pensionable employment (PNP) to apply for open PNP positions.
In January 2025, 46,000 intern teachers at TSC will begin their PNP career after having previously been converted and given employment letters.
Additionally, TSC has 20,000 intern instructors already assigned to begin their one-year contracts in January 2025 after being recently hired for junior secondary schools.
After the online application for teacher promotions closed, TSC opened the internet platform for jobless teachers to begin applying for 8,707 replacement positions.
TSC had on 17th December advertised 19,943 promotion vacancies for teachers from job group C1 to job group D4 after being allocated sh 1 billion by Treasury.
TSC invited teachers from primary to post primary institutions to apply online for the promotion vacancies.
TSC had given qualified teachers till the midnight of 30th December, 2024 to place an application.
The promotion application has now ended and the Commission has kicked off teacher replacement exercise.
TSC has advertised 5,862 posts for primary schools, 21 posts for junior schools and 2,824 posts for secondary schools in the replacements whose application has started today.
The online application portal has been activated from 31st December for fourteen days to allow qualified teachers to apply.
In the advert TSC listed three key requirements for those seeking for the slots. One is required to be a Kenyan citizen.
He or she should also hold at least a P1 certificate in the case of primary schools or a diploma in education in the case of junior and secondary schools. One must also be a registered teacher with TSC.
The application for the replacement vacancies will be strictly done through the TSC online platform from 31st December to 13th January.
The Commission said the vacancies arose after teachers exited the teaching service through natural attrition which include retirement, resignation and death.
Below is the advert that was released by TSC this week that seeks to replace 8,707 teachers.
