2023 New TSC Transfer Regulations. 14,733 teachers who requested transfers have been moved by the Teachers Service Commission. The transactions received the proper approval and were executed.

New standards that will be used going forward when teachers are transferred have now been highlighted by the commission.

Factors the TSC considers in approving transfers

Before TSC accepts any teacher transfers, the following guidelines must be followed:

Category of families and schools
Promotional transfers
Alternatively abled educators
Health of the teacherr, their age, and their proximity to their home county
Size and performance of the school.

In addition, when the TSC standards are followed, all of the aforementioned factors are taken into account. The recommendations follow Rule 64 of the Code of Rules for Teachers (CORT).

On February 14, 2023, Dr. Nancy Macharia, the Commission’s secretary and chief executive officer (CEO), testified before the National Assembly’s education committee and said that the Commission had decided to exempt all teachers 56 and older from transfer outside of their current counties while implementing the transfers.

Teachers who can provide documentation of their illness or other medical issues are likewise prohibited from teaching.

The Commission evaluates each case on its own merits, taking into account, among other things, the availability and accessibility of medical treatments, Dr. Macharia told Parliamentarians.

TEACHERS WHO ARE EXEMPT FROM TRANSFERS INCLUDE:

Those who are 56 years of age or older
Teachers who are disabled
A teacher with a solid medical history.
