Government Officials Are Warned to Get Back to Their Desks or Face The Sack
Kenya, NAIROBI, June 22 – Government administrators (NGAOs) who operate remotely run the risk of being fired for neglecting their duties and endangering the security of the country.
As the government steps up its counterterrorism offensive, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo ordered all personnel who were working remotely to return and seize control of their assigned positions.
The PS warned that those who disobey the order will be sacked with immediate effect after stating that the officers must lead the fight against terrorists and other agents with hostile objectives.
“Make sure you are at your workstation if you are a National Government Administrative Officer. He addressed the County Commissioners, their deputies and assistants, as well as Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs, and said, “And if you can’t be at your workstation, then it’s time to pack up and go.”
He was addressing in Garissa, where he had accompanied Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale to a security meeting and a public baraza in which NGAO from the subcounties of Ijara, Hulugho, Bodhai, and Bura East participated together with local elders and leaders.
PS Omollo warned the officers that those who let their guard down will face disciplinary punishment, whether for an act of commission or omission.
Al-Shabaab terrorists, who continue to scavenge near the Kenya-Somalia border, have consistently threatened Garissa and other frontier counties in the North Eastern region.
NGAOs are gradually developing and implementing community-based solutions to the current and future challenges in their capacity as the heads of the security and intelligence committees in their respective jurisdictions.
Through information-sharing from citizens, a type of partnership, the government hopes to increase the level of surveillance and attentiveness within this plan. The residents were pushed to establish a non-negotiable regimen by Dr. Omollo.
“As for the locals, we need your help to win this battle. Please don’t be afraid to provide our teams on the ground with any tips you may have that will aid us in battling these terrorists. We’ll take immediate action,” he declared.
Mr. John Otieno, the Regional Commissioner for the North Eastern Region, welcomed the group on behalf of the County Security and Intelligence Committee.
