Outrage at the MoE as 408,879 Students Fail to Apply for Courses
The Ministry of Education has expressed concerns about students who did not apply for university placement.
According to Ezekiel Machogu’s CS education, 870 561 people were eligible for entrance to various schools and universities.
But other students who were eligible for placement opted not to enroll in degree, diploma, and certificate programs.
Of the 870,561 qualified applicants, 23,138 chose not to enroll in degree-granting courses.
This makes up 13.35% of the overall amount.
He added that 136,592 students who qualified for diploma courses chose not to apply.
Equally, 136,592 people—or 63.94%—of those who qualified for diploma courses through our various technical programs and middle-level institutions have not applied for any diploma courses, according to Machogu.

Furthermore, 249,149 students who qualified for certificate programs did not submit any applications. This constitutes 86.42 percent of the whole application, according to the CS.
As the 2022 KCSE university placement results were being revealed on Monday at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi, Machogu gave a speech.
He pushed those who had not applied to do so, assuring them that there was still a chance they might be accepted.
Machogu said, “Our universities and technical institutions still have room, so we are hoping that they will be able to apply.”
408,879 students fail to apply for courses, causing a commotion in the MoE.
