List of head teachers whose contracts will end in December
In addition to not extending the contracts of primary school principals who were appointed to those positions in December 2023, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will also terminate the contracts of those primary school principals who are currently filling those positions.
Each Headteacher received a letter of deployment to JSS at the start of the current academic year, beginning their one-year contracts that would last until December 30, 2023.
President William Ruto gave a report to the public at the State House the week before, which was recently released by the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms (PWPER). The Nursery school, Primary school, and Junior school will now operate as a unified institution as a consequence of the suggestions that will be implemented over the course of a year.
The organization that will include all three levels and be overseen by a principal will be known as the Comprehensive School. Teachers who will lead the nursery, primary, and junior schools and who will be referred to as deputy principals will assist the principle in their tasks.
The TSC mandates that the principal and his deputy teachers both hold graduate-level teaching credentials and at least a bachelor’s degree in education. The majority of primary school headteachers in the United Kingdom are P1 teachers who do not now hold advanced degrees, however a sizable portion do.
The qualifications of the headmaster were not taken into account by the TSC while determining the elevation. Instead, if a person had Grade 7 children residing at the school, JSS would issue a letter of deployment to that person. The headteachers are expected to take over the JSS in accordance with the current requirements during a transitional period that will finish on December 30, 2023.
The headteachers are anticipated to take over the JSS in accordance with the policies now in effect during a transitional period that will finish on December 30, 2023. Kenya has over 23,000 public elementary schools, the bulk of which have received approval from the Ministry of Education to host JSS.
The panel and the government will be tasked with creating guidelines for senior instructors who will answer to the principal.
The headteachers who do not meet the requirements to serve as comprehensive school principals will be demoted and probably given smaller responsibility assignments. They will thereby lose control over the management of the school’s finances and operations.
Some schools have been compelled to operate without actual heads of school as a result of the TSC’s failure to attract candidates for administrative positions. All of the departments that report to the comprehensive school’s principal will also have him or her as their chief accounting officer.
