JSS New Teacher Salary Structure 2023

2023 Teacher Salary Structure Update. The new pay schedule for teachers who will be assigned to junior secondary schools has been made public by the employees’ employer, the Teachers Service Commission.

Once they are employed to instruct students in the recently introduced curriculum, the competency-based curriculum, the pay structure will be effective (CBC).

The types of teachers who would be sent to junior secondary schools to work with students in grades 7, 8, and 9 has been a hot topic of contention.

Nonetheless, the teachers service commission has ultimately decided on the instructors as well as their new pay plan for the junior secondary.

According to information obtained by our media team from the Teachers Service Commission, junior secondary school promotions will be prioritized for primary school teachers with higher academic credentials.

The tsc’s career development rules had barred these teachers from promotion. But, they may now breathe a sigh of relief because they will soon experience promotions with better compensation.

New pay scale for teachers in TSC JSS in 2023

Moreover, P1 educators with a degree in education will be stationed at junior secondary schools. The above-mentioned instructors have obtained all necessary and required qualifications to teach in junior secondary, according to the status report on teacher preparedness for the CBC curriculum.

The only type of primary school teachers that TSC sends to secondary schools are primary school tutors with a bachelor’s degree in education.

One must have obtained a minimum grade of a C+ in KCSE along with the same minimum grade in the two teaching subjects to be eligible to be posted to junior secondary school.

New Teacher Salary Structure 2023

Teachers who are hired and assigned to junior secondary schools will automatically fall under job category C2, with a base wage that ranges from 34,955 to 43,694 per month.

After three years have passed since their deployment, the teachers will be promoted to job group C3 in accordance with CPG regulations.

The following indicated allowances will also be advantageous to the teachers:

Commuter allowance     -ksh 5,000

House allowance             – ksh 7500 , applicable for those outside the municipality

Annual leave allowance    -ksh 6,000

Hardship allowance           -ksh 10,900

Once in job group C3, they will enjoy a basic salary of ksh 43,154 minimum and a maximum of ksh.53,943 monthly.

  1. Teachers who were promoted with a diploma and hold the qualification for teaching in JSS should also be upgraded to C3 .Otherwise it will be unfair for these teachers to wait for another 3 years yet they have already reached the ceiling for C2 n stagnated there.
