JSS should be held in 20,000 primary schools, according to CS Machogu
Ezekiel Machogu, the education cabinet secretary, has disclosed that not all elementary schools have met the requirements to serve as Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), which begin classes on January 30.
More than 20,000 of the 31,200 primary schools on the Ministry’s website will accept JSS students. However, the schools that didn’t fulfill the requirements will now serve as feeder schools.
“I am happy to report that there are now over 20,000 elementary schools that will host JSS. The number of schools that did not qualify was actually rather small because our main criterion was based on the enrolment, or the number of students we have as they transition. Additionally, there are a select few other schools that will act as feeders for those that will be providing JSS, according to Mr. Machogu.

Additionally, the Ministry will use affirmative action regardless of the number of students in the transferring class in geographically large, sparsely populated, and insecure locations as well as for students with special needs and disabilities.
Speaking while overseeing the delivery of 17.9 million JSS pupils’ books, Mr. Machogu was doing so at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) in Nairobi.
Using only KICD-approved textbooks is what he ordered for both public and private schools.
