KUCCPS Allows Students to Apply for TVET and KMTC for KCSE 2024.
All KCSE 2024 test takers have 21 days to register at the colleges of their choosing.
This follows the opening of the placement portal by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) on Friday, January 24, 2025, to enable students enrolled in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVETs) and Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) to submit their applications on time.
February 14, 2025 is the date on which the placement portal will close.
KUCCPS said in a statement signed by CEO Agness Wahome that the portals are being opened using a new approach by the organization that intends to make them accessible in phases for various groups.
“The placement service has for the first time adopted a phased application process starting with the Kenya Medical Training College and the TvET colleges to allow the students enrolling for the March intake to apply on time,” the statement began.
Wahome claims that a phased application process was required to ensure that students moved to colleges as quickly as possible because KMTC and TVETS admit in January, February, and May, while universities and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) often have their intakes later in the year.
Additionally, prior Form Four leavers who took the KCSE between 2000 and 2024 are eligible to apply for the spots, according to KUCCPS. To make working from home more affordable, students have been encouraged to apply to TVETS and KMTC campuses in their communities.
Students who are applying for TTC and degrees have been advised to wait as the dates for their applications will be notified later.
With their better results for the September intake, students who retake their exams in July will have the chance to apply to KMTC and TVETS, according to KUCCPS.
For comprehensive information on institutions, available programs, requirements, and application rules, students are urged to visit the KUCCPS website and the KUCCPs portal, students.kuccps.net.
Wahome has also cautioned the students against falling for internet scams that pose as helpful and that applications can only be completed via the portal.
Officers from KUCCPS will provide assistance in launching a nationwide initiative to mentor students and assist candidates in all 47 counties’ selected colleges. For assistance, students can also go to Huduma Centers.
Only 246, 391 of the 962,512 applicants who took the KCSE 2024 exam received a C+ or higher, making them eligible for direct university admission. This year, 605,774 applications are anticipated for TVETs.
