It is vital to keep in mind that the salary scales for ECDE instructors in various Kenyan counties fluctuate widely, from 9,420 to 38,380 Shillings.

Importantly, based on the suggested principles, County Governments are paying ECDE teachers more than the required Government Minimum Wage.

The SRC disputes accusations that ECDE educators make less money than the legally required minimum wage, arguing that these reports were based on the basic income rather than the total remuneration of these teachers.

The Ministry of Education fights for higher pay for Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) teachers in spite of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission’s suggestion for a pay drop.

Teachers in Kiambu (Ruiru & Limuru) are awarded certificates for 28,000 Shillings, diplomas worth 30,980 Shillings, and degrees worth 47,900 Shillings.

Additionally, the new ECDE teacher wages in Kericho County are as follows:

• Assistant ECDE Teacher 3, 29,561 Shillings (Certificate).
• Certificate for ECDE Teacher 3: 40,000 Shillings
• Payout for ECDE Teachers (Degree): 49,000 Shillings

The most recent ECDE teacher salaries in Siaya County are as follows:
23.853 Shillings on the certificate.
33,906 Shillings for the diploma.
43,470 Shillings for a degree
