TSC ENDS INTERN TEACHER EMPLOYMENT AND MOVES FORWARD.
Internships at TSC. The hiring of teachers as interns has now been stopped and supervised by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
The Board has now been advised to stop the internship program and concentrate on selecting teachers with lengthy, pensionable contracts by the Education Committee of the National Assembly.
During a Commission meeting, TSC Director Dr. Nancy Macharia disclosed that the Commission intends to engage an additional 10,000 intern instructors.
According to Dr. Macharia, the commission has a total budget of $15.4 billion, but only has a hiring budget of Sh2 billion.
To close the initial staffing deficit and increase the number of instructors for junior high schools, TSC intends to hire 5,000 full-time and retired teachers.

The country’s teaching staff is under pressure as a result of the 100% conversion endeavor, Macharia continued, forcing the hiring of additional teachers.
To propose the budget for the current fiscal year, TSC’s CEO came before the committee.

A program for internships was started by TSC, a teacher-employer with over 10,000 enrolled teachers.
Primary school teachers receive Sh15,000 per month, while high school instructors receive Sh20,000.
There are several required deductions from the stipend.
