TSC Guidelines For Teachers’ Promotion and Salary Increase
Promotion is promoted for teachers hired by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to progress their careers.
TSC promotions are designed to recognize achievement, ease succession planning, and provide better chances for professional advancement. As a result, teachers’ basic pay and benefits rise with promotion.
The grading method for primary and secondary school teachers was updated as a result of the signing of the 54 billion CBA 2017–2021 between TSC and the three teachers’ unions, KUPPET, KNUT, and KUSNET.
According to the Career Progression Guidelines (CPGs), which were implemented in 2016 and take into account, among other things, necessary qualifications and satisfactory performance, the commission promotes instructors.
Promotion to C1 from Grade B5
In primary schools, only B5-level instructors are employed. T-Scale 5 includes newly hired instructors and is the entry-level for primary school educators, often known as Teacher II.
After three years of employment, a newly hired primary school teacher will be immediately promoted to Grade C1, without the requirement for additional training or an interview procedure.
grade C1 to grade C2 promotion
Grade C1 is the entry level for secondary school teachers with a diploma in education. Primary Teacher I, Secondary Teacher III, and Lecturer I are members of this category. They are not eligible for annual salary increases.
At a primary school, teachers are automatically promoted to Grade C1 after three years of service in Grade B5.
Primary Teachers 1, or grade C1 teachers, are paid at the bottom of the pay system (T-system 6). For elementary school teachers in Grade C1, however, promotion to Grade C2 is not a given.
Grade C2 has a competitive application process, few openings, and acts as a stepping stone to higher levels of administration.
When TSC posts job listings for this grade, teachers interested in advancement to Grade C2 must apply online.
Candidates must hold the necessary credentials, which include a diploma, and have worked at Grade C1 for at least three years. Secondary Teachers II is another name for grade C1 teachers.
Teachers with a Diploma for Secondary Schools are automatically promoted to Grade C2 after three years in Grade C1.
promotion to C3 from Grade C2
It is typical for elementary school instructors to advance to grade C2, which is the senior teaching position in those institutions. It serves as a stepping stone to the executive team. Promotion to this level is not assured, though; it depends on the degree of competition and the number of unfilled places.
A minimum of three years of experience instructing the primary grades is necessary to be promoted to Primary Teacher II. For qualified individuals, promotion to this grade is automatic.
