The government is working with China to buy more equipment in order to improve training in TVETs around the country.
According to TVET PS Esther Muoria on Monday, 154 TVETs now have cutting-edge teaching resources as a result of the ongoing partnership.
The spokesman stated, “We are about to execute a business contract with AVIC International to bring in the third phase of equipment in TVET colleges to enable real-time training of students.
A component of the global ownership group known as AVIC International Holding Corporation is the Aviation Industry Corporation of China.
Muoria was delivering a speech at the Technical University of Kenya in Nairobi for the official beginning of the eighth season of the African Tech Challenge (ATC).

She claims that Kenya is dedicated to expanding young people’s skill development training in accordance with their aptitudes rather than just the credentials they have already attained.
The state administration plans to rewrite the TVET curriculum, retrain teachers, and offer dual training to students.
According to Muoria, the TVET-level empowerment of our children is evidence of our commitment to skill development. “We want to advance the development of our nation.”
ATC, an annual event, began on Monday and runs until August 25.
It aims to attract competitors from, among other nine countries, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The ATC, according to Muoria, signals a turning point in efforts to maximise human potential.
She stated that it is an opportunity for young people to show their creativity and propensity for solving issues at the intersection of science, technology, and innovation.
The PS advised students to approach the assignment with an open mind.
According to Muoria, we want to witness the union of technology and imagination.
“Leading to breakthroughs with the potential to transform entire industries, eliminate waste, enhance our quality of life, and build a sustainable future.”
TVETs get a big boost as the government partners with China
The major focus of the challenge will be training and competitions in two categories: mechanical drawing and computer-aided design (CAD), software application, and CNC lathe machining.
The former will be conducted via the AVIC International Vocational Education Online Platform, where AVIC International will provide the CAD software, while the latter will happen at TUK.
Each vocational institution will send a team, with one instructor serving as the team leader and three students competing in each category.
Kenyan athletes will be in ten teams.
According to Ma Chengyuan, chief representative of AVIC International Holding Corporation Kenya, the goal of the training project is to give young people relevant skills for a fast growing economy.
“We believe that providing our young people with the tools they need gives them a chance to compete for opportunities in the global economy,” he said.
The event, according to TUK Vice Chancellor Paul Shiundu, allows students a chance to showcase their abilities and advocate for our institutions on a national and worldwide scale.
According to him, the fundamental objective of this endeavour is to ensure that the tremendous benefits of technology can be maintained and hence serve as a solid platform for continuous growth.
The top competitors in the training and tournament will be awarded fully funded scholarships to prestigious Chinese universities.
The winners will also get a variety of awards as well as internship and job opportunities.
