University students have nine days to finish their HELB applications.
Students have nine days to apply for loans from the High Education Loans Board (HELB), according to John Oluoch, CEO of Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS).
According to Mr. Oluoch, the HELB application deadline for college applicants is August 27.
Students who have been accepted to a university must apply for a loan from HELB by August 27. Oluoch said that people who don’t apply won’t be considered in the future.
All students who took the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) between 2000 and 2022, in his opinion, are qualified for placement in technical colleges and are free to apply for any degree they choose.
Oluoch promised that no student will experience discrimination because of the year they sat the KCSE exam to the more than 300 principals of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) centers in Mombasa.
Principals were concerned about the government’s stance allowing students who took the KCSE more than 20 years ago to enroll in TVET institutes.
Oluoch said, “You should just help them enroll in the college as that was their right.” Since KUCCPS had enrolled the pupil at a school where they were also eligible for HELB.
Oluoch asserted that KUUPs should enroll KCSE graduates in universities because those institutions have deadlines for students to enroll.
He advised students who weren’t assigned to the most recent circle to wait for the following one. He said that the launch date for the placement portal has not yet been determined.
In order to encourage students who had come to the school for any topic to enroll by paying the Sh1,500 application fee, the head of KUCCPS provided the principals guidance.
He explained that the applicants must pay the money that KUUPs spent to facilitate their placement when the portal is opened.

Oluoch made this statement in response to several principals’ complaints that numerous applicants were just walking in without using KUCCPS to apply for admission.
According to him, these students had no choice but to use KUCCPS to help them enter the system and get qualified for the loan if they wanted to be considered for a government education loan.
During the session, it was decided that each school should make sure that students are trained for a transition to more practical industries.
