Headteachers outnumber students in six counties.

More headteachers work in six counties than there are schools. According to the task force’s draft report, there is an excess of primary school headteachers in six counties.

According to the reform team, the TSC is expected to transfer instructors from places where there is an excess of staff to institutions where there is a shortage of teachers.

Baringo has 411 more teachers than it needs in Embu (74), Kericho (54), Kirinyaga (255), and Murang’a (2).

In three counties—Baringo, Marsabit, and West Pokot—primary schools have more head teachers than institutions, according to data gathered for the task force’s draft report.

In Baringo County, there are 722 elementary schools and 849 principals. There are 195 head teachers working in the 180 elementary schools that make up Marsabit County.

In West Pokot, there are 670 head teachers in the schools despite the fact that there are 654 elementary teachers.

This is true despite the fact that certain other counties have a large gap in the number of institutions they have.

In the county of Nakuru, which has 373 secondary schools, there are 2,875 fewer teachers required. The next one is Homa Bay County, which has 2,570 open teaching positions but only 333 secondary schools.

Bomet County’s top five understaffed secondary schools have been closed. The 280 secondary schools in the county require 2,368 teachers.
