According to Dr. Belio Kipsang, the Principal Secretary for Basic Education, Kenya is preparing to undertake new educational reforms under the direction of the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms.
He claims that the revisions are in keeping with the 2010 Kenyan Constitution, which stipulates that everyone must have access to inclusive, egalitarian, and high-quality educational opportunities.
Additionally, every child in Kenya has the right to a free and required basic education under Article 53(1)(b) of the Kenyan Constitution.
“We are confident that once the Working Party’s final report is officially released, our country will have a firm basis upon which to keep the CBC implementation in the right trajectory,” said the PS.
The PS spoke at the most recent Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD)-hosted 4th African Curriculum Association Conference in Nairobi.
He expressed his satisfaction with how the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC), a new curriculum that has received a lot of criticism since its beginning, is currently being received.

He went on to say that when they were examined, the CBC-related experiences of various countries “pointed to robust efforts towards Africanization of various aspects of the curriculum.”
Belio commended the conference organizers for providing the participants with the opportunity to share their experiences, triumphs, and difficulties in the African continent’s education sector(s).
