Machogu introduces a portal for loans and varsity scholarships

The government would compensate over 45,000 vulnerable and extremely poor university students and 42,000 TVET students out of the 2022 KCSE graduates in total.

According to Machogu, these students will receive maintenance from the loan and not be forced to contribute anything to the program’s cost.

According to Machogu, thanks to 100% government support, children from low-income households will now have equal access to TVET and higher education.

According to the CS, students who want financial aid must submit official applications via the Higher Education Financing website.

He said that the categorizing would be carried out using Means Testing Instruments, a reliable scientific method.

The Instrument will be used to determine the student’s level of financial need in order to ensure that they are adequately supported.

The funding mechanism won’t have an effect on continuing students, he said, and they would continue to get their monies in accordance with the government’s current technique.

He gave Vice-Chancellors and Principals instructions to make sure that letters of admission are sent by August 2, 2023.

He said that students will be able to submit loan and bursary applications from August 3, 2023, until midnight on August 27, 2023.

Machogu asked students to make sure they follow the set dates because most colleges are getting ready to welcome first-year students in September. This will enable rapid processing of scholarships and loans.
