MoE’s new deadlines. Contrary to what several websites said, the Ministry of Education has confirmed that there have not been any changes made to the closing dates for the third term of schools.

Pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools will in fact start their break on October 27 as originally announced, according to Kennedy Buhere, the Ministry of Education’s communications officer.
Buhere stressed that the academic calendar is unaffected and that the Ministry of Education and its official social media platforms are the only sources of official communications.
The administration of Education responded with this statement in response to claims made by the Education News Arena that the administration had changed the deadline to October 19.
The blog said that the term would now end on October 19 at elementary and secondary schools across the country.
Instead of the previously announced date of October 27, the ministry wants to emphasize the importance of this term because it will be the last one with a midterm break because of approaching national exams.
The Ministry of Education changed the 2023 school calendar in January, shortening the time allotted for the national exams.
Exams for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will be held from November 30 through November 2 and from November 3 through November 24, respectively. Marking for the KCSE will begin on November 27 and end on December 15.

The length of the first term is 13 weeks, the second is 14 weeks, and the third is the shortest at 10 weeks.
