New TSC payslip and salary for newly employed teachers.
The Teachers Service Commission, or TSC, is responsible for hiring and compensating all new teachers in Kenya.
Job group K, which is currently known as grade C2, Secondary Teacher II, includes graduate teachers.
The lengthy delays in processing newly hired teachers’ wages have been rectified by TSC. The Commission has modified the processes for teacher deployment, posting, and transfer.
Instead of the laborious manual approach that is currently used, these tasks will now be completed online. As a result, there will be no longer be a three-month wait for the first salary for all newly hired teachers.
The newly hired instructor is on probation for a minimum of six months, as stated in the TSC appointment letter.
If the instructor performs poorly, the probationary period may occasionally be extended. It is important to treat this propagation time carefully. Keep in mind that the Commission could have to fire the teacher at this point.
The teacher is automatically promoted to job group L, sometimes known as grade C3, after three years of service.
As part of TSC’s new reform initiatives, new teachers will begin getting paid at the conclusion of their first month on the job.
To reduce delays in teacher salary disbursement, the employer of the instructors has implemented an online system as part of the new changes.
The majority of secondary school tutors are university graduates, and teaching in secondary schools currently requires a diploma.
The teacher in job group K (grade C2) is entitled to a commuter allowance of 5,000 shillings and a rental dwelling allowance of 7,500 shillings. However, according to the SRC scales, the amount of the house allowance varies. Additionally, teachers who work in areas of difficulty are given hardship payments.
The freshly hired graduate teacher receives 38,000 shillings after deductions are made. Keep in mind that those whose HELB loans are being withheld are not affected by this sum.
Teachers will now report under the new online reform procedures being implemented by the Commission, allowing them to get their pay at the end of the first month, according to TSC Secretary Dr. Nancy Macharia.
It is anticipated that the new instructors’ reporting system will eliminate the three-month payment processing delay and just require one month.
